In one of the finest landscapes in the region, Vista is a quiet retreat in the heart of Arraial d'Ajuda. With villas of 3 to 4 en-suites, a private pool in every unit and a full clubhouse, Vista was designed to hold your stay in southern Bahia.
Vista is a few meters from the main sights of Arraial d'Ajuda, named the most welcoming destination in the world by the Traveller Review Awards, Booking.com's prize. It also sits on the main route to the road that leads to Trancoso, which puts the whole region within easy reach and makes Vista a good place to start from.
The project
The architecture and interiors, by Renato Santoro and Felipe Castilho Perez, bring Tulum together with the way of living in Bahia. Drawing on the intimate spaces of Tulum architecture, the project connects inside to outside: the living and dining room extend into the pool area like a large courtyard. The other connection between inside and out is the muxarabi, a carved wooden lattice that lets in light and air while keeping the privacy of the master en-suite without giving up the view. That intimacy is matched with the materials of the local culture — wood, stone and concrete — in dialogue with the landscape.
Douglas Brandão's landscape design completes the architecture, composing with local species in a garden that takes its cue from Tulum, and making joined-up spaces for rest and contemplation.
