Anchored on top of a cliff in Arraial d'Ajuda, Casa do Pescador comes out of the meeting between quiet interiority and living nature. Conceived as a counterpart to another house given over to friends and family, it was designed as a retreat of silence and connection — a shelter for two, where the landscape leads.

Built entirely in reclaimed wood and salvaged utility poles, the house holds sustainability, memory and authenticity together. Imperfection and time are its main materials, in direct conversation with the native forest and the sea of Bahia.

A poetic take on inhabiting time, silence and the essential.

The project

Compact and precise, the house holds kitchen, living area and bedroom with a desk in a single volume that opens fully to the horizon. Only the bathroom is enclosed, which keeps the sense of space and lightness. On the deck, tubs carved from natural stone by Gali face the sea.

The furniture, from Dpot and Casa Ática, puts Brazilian design at the center, balancing rough and fine. Neutral tones and natural materials let the architecture — and the view — lead the eye.

HERITAGE & RICHES

Nampur opens the doors of southern Bahia, a preserved stretch of the remote Brazilian coast. Arraial d'Ajuda, named the most welcoming destination in the world by the 12th Traveller Review Awards in 2024, is a jewel of the Bahian coast. The village puts rustic charm together with a rich regional culture.

In Arraial d'Ajuda life runs at the pace of the waves, and the regard for origins gives visitors a close connection to Brazilian nature and culture. The beaches invite contemplation; the traditional festivals and art events celebrate how the region lives.

Sustainability, memory and authenticity.

The center of the village, with its picturesque streets and rustic architecture, is where people meet to take in the local culture and the hospitality of those who live there. Every corner shows another side of the local heritage, from the regional cooking to the festivals that light up the village.

Arraial d'Ajuda is a place that celebrates plain good taste and invites everyone to take in a small treasury of a village. Nature and local culture hold together here, and what comes of it is calm and genuine.

Renato Santoro

Versatility is the axis of Renato Santoro's work. It comes out of an architecture of dialogue, and shows in the shrewdness with which he composes projects of wide scope.

His work runs from cultural centers, through the restoration of historic buildings, to houses suspended in landscapes that leave no room for error. He is perceptive and of his time, and sustainability is decisive in how he looks at nature. Subtlety is the other attribute of his art.

A home ready to be lived in.

From architecture to landscaping, the project arrives resolved — all that remains is choosing how to fill the days.

The build is ours, from first sketch to delivery.

Nampur develops and builds. Buyers follow the progress without managing site, crew or schedule.

A place where you arrive already belonging.

For nearly ten years Nampur has been building the same neighbourhood in southern Bahia — those arriving now find a formed community.
