The ocean is the first thing you see on arriving at Azul, a residential project of 16 units facing the sea, on one of the finest beaches in Arraial d'Ajuda, Praia de Pitinga.
Azul appears like a mirage above the orange cliffs and turquoise water of southern Bahia. The architecture is by Sara Romano, a Parisian with a Bahian soul and more than a decade of work in the region. The landscape design is by Luiz Carlos Orsini, who builds privacy and a close relationship with nature into every detail.
The project
Contemporary architecture with regional elements, built around belonging — the feeling of being part of southern Bahia. The villas are generous, with large framed openings, and pergolas that take the edge off the sun and the wind.
Azul was designed around leisure: spa, gym, beach tennis court, lookout and private beach access, four minutes away.
Drawing on the culture and the way of life of the region, the architecture is about meeting the sea. Set over two floors, the houses sit close to the landscape and stay in conversation with it.

The houses have living and contemplation areas that join inside to outside, so the sea breeze runs through the rooms and daylight fills them. The materials and the care in the detailing are the standard Nampur holds itself to.
This dialogue between architecture and landscape is what makes the houses feel like southern Bahia. Wood leads the finishes and the design elements, and keeps each house natural and welcoming.

Landscape design
Luiz Carlos Orsini trained at the Escuela de Jardinería y Paisajismo Castillo de Batres in Madrid, Spain. Across 35 years he has signed hundreds of gardens, among them 260,000 m² at Inhotim, the largest open-air museum in Latin America, in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais.
