The history of Nampur

Nampur is synonymous with exclusivity and excellence.

The dream of gathering friends along the Costa do Descobrimento was born more than a decade ago, on top of one of the most enchanting cliffs in the south of Bahia. Inspired by the dwellings of local fishermen, the first residence built paved the way for the dream of Victor Meireles, founder of Nampur.

Years before, when his parents Adelson de Sousa and Cassia Meireles got married in 1989, Arraial D’Ajuda (BA) became a frequent destination for the couple and, as the family grew, so did their children. Over the years, this connection with Bahia solidified. The welcoming, vibrant and joyful energy of the state was a determining factor in the construction of their first house, after many stays in hotels and inns in the region.

It was in this setting that the family understood the real meaning of “quality living” and began building unique properties. That “fisherman’s house”, simple yet complete, was the stage for a unique metamorphosis in the relentless pursuit of perfection. Attentive to detail, concerned with preserving enchanting nature, with the vision of creating the most exclusive villas in the south of Bahia.

Developing these villages and residences requires respect for culture, local heritage and the environment, leaving a positive impact on communities - and this is part of our DNA

Nampur’s prosperous future was already announced with “Vila Greda”, which was featured worldwide on the cover of the prestigious “Condé Nast Traveller” magazine, focused on destinations and travel. With photography by Ana Beatriz Barros, the magazine featured summer getaways, exalting the infinite blue of the Bahia sea, accompanied by the sophisticated architecture of the property, as well as the natural beauty of that paradise.

Nampur now creates a community that brings together friends, family, clients,
architects and landscapers, suppliers, collaborators and neighbors, who interrelate in a harmonious way, offering support, partnership and virtuous strategies of value in this relic of the Brazilian coast.

Trancoso Square

Alongside renowned architects and landscapers, Nampur begins its journey of honoring the material and immaterial riches of this region of historical importance for Brazil, with creations intertwined with the most precious destinations.

Brazilian architecture and design, together with partnerships for regional hospitality, are the source of inspiration for the luxury of comfort and privacy of a home away from home – where living takes place in another time.

The curation of privileged landscapes, materialities and access to the region’s breathtaking natural beauty are manifesting new ways of belonging to Brazil’s unique coastline, with properties that are veritable private sanctuaries.

Community

Through basic education, we transform generations and pave the way for an even more beautiful and promising future.

Social

For us, praising the south of Bahia means praising its culture, traditions and community. To do this, we invest resources and a lot of dedication in social impact projects.

Our philosophy includes the desire for transformation, converging past and future without harming the environment and respecting urban development.

Through basic education, we transform generations and pave the way for an even more beautiful and promising future.

Every smile, every life transformed, brings the feeling of a mission accomplished, and we’re only just getting started.

Bright seeds

The Shining Seeds project currently serves around 100 children (aged zero to four) from three nurseries in the communities of Trancoso and Arraial D’Ajuda, in Bahia.

In order to prevent these little ones from being idle in front of the television, a circuit of carefully developed and selected toys are used as learning tools.

The activities stimulate mental, motor and cognitive development through play, based on the internationally certified methodology of the São Paulo school Steps Baby Lounge, created by businesswoman Glaucia Maciel 20 years ago.

Nampur invested in making the project possible, providing courses for nursery school teachers to learn the dynamics, as well as offering boxes to be used in lesson plans. It was also responsible for developing the online course to train even more people in the methodology.

Staircase of the Saint

Brazil’s first Marian shrine, in Arraial d’Ajuda, has undergone renovation work on the entire complex, involving the refurbishment of the sacred fountain, the staircase and the installation of a gazebo and deck.

The tourist spot popularly known as the Staircase of the Saint, which has welcomed pilgrims in search of miraculous waters since 1551, has had a new mosaic applied to its 146 steps, walls and bench, with images and phrases that tell the story of the shrine, based on research by artist Gabriel Güyrá.

The project had been approved in 2019, but due to lack of funds it only started in September 2020. The Adopt a Step campaign, organized by the Arraial do Bem Movement, raised R$270,000 to pay for the labour (bricklayers, carpenters, painters and joiners). Nampur sponsored the initiative alongside other companies.
